Before you pass the stuffing and dive into the gravy boat, head down to the Olympic Oval this Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, Nov. 28) for the 11th annual Adirondack Health Turkey Trot 5K Walk and Run.
This healthy start to Thanksgiving begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Lake Placid Olympic Oval. A flat 5K course will take runners around Mirror Lake before returning to the Oval for the finish. Fun, Thanksgiving-themed prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers. Runners that “stuff the turkey” by beating the mystery runner around the lake win a small prize.
Early registration on active.com by Nov. 26 is $25 per person or $75 for a group of four. Participants can also register until 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day for $30 per person or $100 for a group of four. Children 12 and under race free, but please leave four-legged friends at home. Bring three non-perishable food items to donate and have $5 taken off your entry fee. Proceeds from the race benefit local food pantries and Adirondack Health’s Fit for Life program.
Race packets can be picked up on Nov. 27 at the Olympic Oval from 4-6 p.m. or on the morning of the race. Register at active.com to guarantee a race T-shirt.
