If you'd like to visit a patient staying at Adirondack Medical Center - Saranac Lake, we offer a variety resources for your convenience.

Visitation Guidelines

Visiting hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day

Med/Surg and ICU

  • Each patient is allowed two visitors at any one time. Both visitors can be with the patient at the same time. All children (under age 16) must always by accompanied by a responsible adult other than the patient.

ASU

  • Each patient is allowed one visitor. ASU visitation applies while the unit is open.

OB/Nursery

  • Two support people for labor and delivery. No limitation on hours per day. Please note: To protect newborns from the influenza virus and respiratory illness, visitation after delivery is restricted to one support person for the mother and the infant's grandparents with a limit of two visitors at the same time.

Emergency Department

  • One support person per patient at a time. No limitation on hours per day.

Special Considerations

  • Children (under 18) may have a parent/guardian with them at all times.
  • Developmentally disabled patient/clients may have support staff with them as needed for care/safety.
  • End of life, compassionate care considerations will be made through the Patient Care Coordinator (PCC).
  • Considerations will be made by the PCC for other situations related to patient care needs as they arise.

Amenities

AMC offers a wide range of on-site amenities for patients, families and visitors.

Telephones

Free local telephone service is available for patients. Your telephone is located at your bedside. A TDD (telecommunication device for the hearing impaired) is also available upon request. To make a local call, dial "9" and then the number. Long distance calls must be charged to a calling card or called collect. To make a long distance call or collect call, dial "0" for the hospital's operator.

Dining

The cafeteria at Adirondack Medical Center features daily lunch and dinner specials, along with a salad bar and other meal and beverage choices. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. Sandwiches and assorted beverages are offered in the AMC Gift Shop near the Main Lobby. The cafeteria sells breakfast items a-la-carte.

Patient meals may depend on the dietary plan and individual needs. Kosher, vegetarian or other special meals are available; please tell your nurse. If you would like fruit juice or other refreshments between meals, press your call button and ask. If you are on a special diet, a registered dietician will visit you to discuss your diet. If you have any questions about diet, the dietitians on staff are available while you are in the hospital or after you leave.

Breakfast is served from 7:15 to 7:30 a.m.; lunch is served from noon to 12:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 5:30 p.m.

Patients are welcome to access our free public wireless network.

Newspapers & Magazines

Local newspapers are available in vending machines at the entrance of the Main Lobby.

Banking

An ATM is located in the main lobby. Cards honored include NYCE, Plus Honor, VISA, MasterCard.

Pharmacy

The pharmacy is located on the first floor of the Redfield Medical Office Building. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
