Vestibular Rehabilitation may help with vertigo, dizziness, imbalance
Dizziness, trouble with balance could signal need for specialized therapy
“I was having dizzy spells whenever I laid dawn on my left side or when I reached up over my head to place something in my closet. My doctor said I had vertigo and gave me a script for pills. I had one visit in Physical Therapy and we did exercises and the dizziness was gone.”
- Donald Tallman, Wilmington
“Vertigo is not fun. Spinning rooms, imbalance, nausea and headache dictate so much of your daily routine. Stairs and footstools are impossible. Fear of driving and inability to work are also part of vertigo. After one session with Ryan, most of my symptoms were greatly reduced. Further treatment has been enormously effective. It great to be back to the world again! I would recommend vestibular rehabilitation at Adirondack Medical Center to anyone.”
- Paulette R. Pecheux, Lake Placid
“Wonderful. A very good experience. I have not had another episode of dizziness since stopping treatment.”
- Carol Stinette, Tupper Lake
Falls are the leading cause of accidental death in persons over the age of 65. Dizziness and poor balance can increase the likelihood of a fall in older persons by two to three times compared to those who don’t have symptoms. If you suffer from vertigo (a mild to violent spinning sensation), dizziness (a sense of light-headedness or disorientation), and/or feel unsteady on your feet, your problem may be related to your vestibular system.
The vestibular system includes parts of your inner ear that help with your balance. If your vestibular system is not functioning properly, you could experience varying forms of dizziness, vertigo, poor balance and falls.
