Registration open for Adirondack Health’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program
SARANAC LAKE – Registration has opened for Adirondack Health’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program.
The program begins on Wednesday, Sept. 13, and runs for six consecutive weeks each Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Redfield Board Room at Adirondack Medical Center’s Saranac Lake campus. The interdisciplinary team of instructors includes doctors, pharmacists, nurses, dieticians and exercise specialists.
Diabetes self-management education is an essential component of diabetes care, with national standards based upon evidence of its benefits. The program assists those initially diagnosed with diabetes in getting their self-care off to an effective start. For those who have had the disease for some time, the program offers reminders on how to continue the high level of self-care that is essential for optimizing metabolic control, managing complications and maintaining a high quality of life. Individuals diagnosed with pre-diabetes may also find this program effective in helping to prevent disease progression.
