New Chief Nursing Officer leads patient care at Adirondack Health
SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Health recently elevated Linda McClarigan to the organization’s top patient care position of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Ms. McClarigan transitioned from interim CNO to her current leadership appointment in mid-December 2013.
A Registered Nurse with over 35 years of progressive patient care experience, Ms. McClarigan holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Health Administration. She initially joined Adirondack Health in October of 2012 as Patient Care Director of Adirondack Medical Center’s Medical Unit and Colby Center. Prior to joining AMC, she worked at Alice Hyde Medical Center for more than 20 years in acute and critical care settings; with 13 of those years in senior executive positions. She held a variety of positions including Director of Education, Director of Quality Improvement, Vice President of Patient Care/CNO and Vice President of Administration/Chief Operating Officer. She was Vice President of Patient Care/CNO, when she left the Malone-based hospital to join Adirondack Health.
“We have promoted Linda for many reasons,” said Chandler Ralph, CEO and President of Adirondack Health, “not the least of which is her energy, her dedication to the safety and well being of our patients, her vision for the profession of nursing, her dedication to excellence and her ability to work well across the organization. She is extremely enthusiastic about her position and will add immense value to the team at Adirondack Health.”
“Adirondack Health excels in so many areas – from patient care satisfaction ratings to consistently low infection rates to quality outcomes following surgical procedures,” said Ms. McClarigan. “All of these factors point to a shared mission and commitment to providing best-in-class care to those who live in or visit the Adirondacks and northern New York, and I am grateful for the opportunity to play a role in this endeavor.”
As Chief Nursing Officer, Ms. McClarigan is responsible for the leadership, administration and evaluation of patient care for Adirondack Health. She continues to serve as the Program Director of Adirondack Health’s Colby Center for Psychiatry, a 12-bed acute care unit providing short-term inpatient services to patients 55 years of age and older, located at AMC in Saranac Lake.
