Mercy Living Center welcomes new administrator
SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Health is proud to welcome Elena Vega-Castro, who is the new Assistant Vice President of Long Term Care at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake.
Elena's most recent position was assistant administrator at the Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Carthage, N.Y., a 90-bed facility operated by Capitol Living and Rehabilitation Centres.
"Elena is a highly skilled administrator with a passion for excellent resident care," said Marc Walker, Chief Senior Services Officer for Adirondack Health. "She is the perfect fit to lead a great staff of caregivers at Mercy Living Center."
With seven years of experience under her belt at Country Manor, Elena was ready to lead a facility of her own. She was drawn to the tight-knit atmosphere at Mercy Living Center, and the warm sense of community in Tupper Lake. As the administrator of a smaller facility like Mercy, Elena welcomes the opportunity to wear several hats and become involved in many aspects of resident care.
Elena earned a Bachelor's Degree in healthcare management from SUNY Institute of Technology in Utica, and a Master's Degree in Health Management from Trident University International. She also serves as a Career Counselor in the U.S. Army Reserve.
In her free time, Elena likes to run and spend time with her two daughters, playing soccer or participating in Girl Scouts.
