Get into healthy holiday spirit with Adirondack Health’s Jingle Bell Run/Walk
LAKE PLACID – Kick-start your holiday spirit and help bring cheer to a local child by participating in the annual Adirondack Health Jingle Bell Run/Walk.
Held in conjunction with Lake Placid’s Holiday Village Stroll, the run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at the public beach on Mirror Lake in Lake Placid. The flat, family-friendly course around Mirror Lake offers a healthy and fun start to the holiday season. Don’t forget to wear your holiday best! The most festively dressed individual and family will be awarded a $100 prize.
Participants can register by Dec. 7 for the Jingle Bell Run/Walk at www.active.com for $15. Race day registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. inside the Public Beach House, with an entry fee of $20. All registrants are entered into a drawing for a Whiteface lift ticket, Olympic sites passports and cross-country trail pass. Proceeds benefit Adirondack Health’s Fit for Life program and Essex County Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
Participants are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit local children. Anyone not participating in the Run/Walk who wishes to donate a toy is welcome to drop off their donation on the day of the event.
“Many families choose between feeding themselves and giving gifts during the holidays,” said Krista Berger, Essex County WIC program coordinator. “This is an opportunity to help provide a local family with a Christmas they might not normally have.”
