Adirondack Health welcomes asthma & allergy physician to medical staff
SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Health is proud to welcome Dr. James G. Merrick to the region where he will provide asthma and allergy care to patients of all ages.
After receiving his medical degree from the University of Iowa, he completed formal training there in the specialties of Pediatrics, Allergy/Immunology and Pediatric Pulmonology. Dr. Merrick subsequently became board certified in all three specialties.
Dr. Merrick provides care for adults and children with allergies, sinus issues, asthma, allergic skin disease, food allergy, bee sting allergy and children’s respiratory conditions.
He has held faculty appointments at several medical schools and training programs where he has provided education for medical students and doctors in training. He most recently cared for patients at Dean Clinic Allergy in Janesville and Madison, Wis.
Personally, Dr. Merrick has always been drawn to the Adirondack region and northern New York. Having grown up on a farm in a small Iowa town, he has an affinity for quiet, rural life. Relocating to the area also allows both he and his wife to be closer to their adult children. His hobbies include playing basketball, classical music, canoeing, fishing and cross-country skiing.
Dr. Merrick will be continuing the allergy practice of Dr. Roy Slaunwhite, who recently retired after many years of dedicated service to the community. Dr. Merrick can be contacted at (518) 891-2688 in the office of North Country Family Physicians. Most insurances are accepted, and Dr. Merrick will accept patients with or without referral.
