Adirondack Health takes precautions to protect newborns from the flu
SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Health is taking precautions to protect newborns from the recent local increase in flu and flu-like illnesses by restricting visitors to the Stafford New Life birthing center at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Babies are among the highest at-risk group for complications from the flu. For their protection, only parents and grandparents who have received the flu vaccine are being allowed to visit the birthing center. Anyone experiencing any signs of illness, is being asked to refrain from visiting the birthing center at this time. There are no other visitor restrictions at AMC; however, individuals with a cough may be asked to wear a mask in certain areas of the hospital or in a doctor’s office.
If you need a flu shot or a primary care physician, call (518) 897-2778 to schedule an appointment at one of Adirondack Health’s community health centers in Keene, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake.
