Adirondack Health clinic prepares runners for the season
SARANAC LAKE - Spring is (almost) in the air, and the running season will be here before we know it.
Allow our highly trained staff of sports medicine specialists to identify any biomechanical issues which may lead to injury and lost training time. Our goal is to help you reach your fitness goals. The Runners' Clinics, offered by the Rehabilitation and Sports Science Department at Adirondack Health, are in their 10th season.
The first Runners' Clinic of the 2013 season will be held Thursday, Feb. 21 at Adirondack Health's Lake Placid Rehabilitation & Sports Science facility at 29 Church Street, Lake Placid. The next Runners' Clinic will be held at Adirondack Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation at 39 Court Street in Plattsburgh on Thursday, March 14. The final two Runners Clinics will be held at Adirondack Health's Lake Placid Rehabilitation & Sports Science facility in Lake Placid on Thursday April 18 and May 16. Start times for the clinics are 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with four participants per time slot.
Each individual will receive a Computerized Running Gait Analysis, Functional Movement Assessment, Bio-mechanical Screen with footwear recommendations, body composition measurements and runners' specific flexibility and strengthening exercises. We also provide a 30 minute 'debriefing' segment after the assessments for questions and answers. The cost is $35 per person. Please keep in mind, the 15 minute sessions limit the topics that can be covered, however, the goal is to get runners moving in the right direction.
Contact Certified Athletic Trainer Dino Angelopoulos at (518) 523-8589 with questions or to reserve a spot in the clinic. The Runners' Clinic is sponsored by the Adirondack Health Rehabilitation and Sports Science Department, Lake Placid Sports Medicine Center and Adirondack Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation.
