The staff and physicians of Adirondack Health are proud to have acheived a quality of care rating that is higher than other hospitals in New York State and the nation.

For several years, Adirondack Health has participated in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey (HCAHPS) which is a national standard for measuring patients' perspectives on hospital care.

Information about our patients' hospital experience is updated on a quarterly basis and is available to the public on the Hospital Quality Alliance's (HQA) website, www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov. The HQA is a national public-private collaboration of hospital groups, consumer representatives, physician and nursing organizations, employers and health insurers, oversight organizations and government agencies dedicated to encouraginghospitals to voluntarily collect and publicize quality of care information.

Information for the HCAHPS report is gathered from patient satisfaction surveys. Adirondack Health strongly encourages patients to respond should you receive a survey. Most questions on the HCAHPS survey ask the patient to report on how frequently something occurred - "always," "usually," "sometimes," or "never."

Your feedback is used to make improvements to the quality of care patients receive, which is an ongoing effort at Adirondack Health. Equally important, this national standard for collecting or publicly reporting healthcare consumer information enables valid comparisons betweem differemt hospitals. You can compare "apples to apples" among healthcare providers in northern New York, throughout the state or across the nation.
