Open conversation on end-of-life planning
When: Tue, Oct. 6, 2015 6:30pm — 8:00pm
Where: Saranac Lake
Few conversations are more challenging for a family than end-of-life planning. To help guide the conversation so families and caregivers can provide a supporting and loving environment during the dying process, Adirondack Health is hosting a community gathering lead by Dr. George S. Cook in the Redfield Board Room at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Dr. Cook will moderate an informal discussion around the concept of medical ethics and the actions to support a dignified death. In addition to discussing a range of end-of-life trajectories, Dr. Cook will cover Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST), along with a growing list of therapeutic choices available to individuals during the final stages of life and a “to-do” list of practical advice for families and caregivers. A question and answer period follows the presentation. Open to the public, free of charge.
