Adirondack Health sponsors 2017 World Snowshoe Championships ‘Shoe-Be-Doo’ 5K
Adirondack Health is proud to announce its sponsorship of the upcoming 2017 World Snowshoe Championships 5K “Shoe-Be-Doo” Walking Party. The event, which is open to the public, will take place on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at 1:00 PM. It will utilize the same five-kilometer course as the event’s other races, beginning and ending in downtown Saranac Lake, with a loop up and around Dewey Mountain. Adirondack Health’s sponsorship will fully cover the cost of entry for any interested K-12 students in the Tri-Lakes region. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and form teams, in keeping with the event’s lighthearted community spirit.
“As champions of a healthy and active community, Adirondack Health is always looking for new ways to encourage safe outdoor recreation,” said Adirondack Health President & CEO Sylvia Getman. “We are incredibly excited to be a part of the 2017 World Snowshoe Championships and simply cannot wait to welcome athletes, whether from across the world or across town, to participate in the Adirondack Health ‘Shoe-Be-Doo’ 5K.”
The Adirondack Health Shoe-Be-Doo 5K is open to everyone. All Tri-Lakes area students to grade 12 are invited to participate free of charge. This fun, social stroll over hill and dale will offer free food and drink stations. Participants must bring their own snow shoes.
“It goes without saying that unless you have a great community partner, you cannot have a great community event,” said Mayor Clyde Rabideau. “Adirondack Health has really stepped forward to assist us in making sure this is a world-class experience for everyone involved. Some participants will race all-out for a world title, while others just want to participate in our various and fun five kilometer events. Either way, Adirondack Health will play a significant role in the impression they’ll take home with them.”
Currently, 150 snow shoe racers have registered from the U.S. and abroad, including 15 from India.
