Adirondack Health Nursing 5K Run/Walk scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 17
SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Health’s nursing staff will host a 5K to combat childhood obesity.
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Mount Pisgah base lodge in Saranac Lake. The 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course will take participants from the lodge down Mount Pisgah Road, Trudeau Road, and Old Lake Colby Road to Adirondack Medical Center and then back up again, finishing at the Mount Pisgah base lodge.
“In addition to being first-rate healthcare professionals, many of our nurses at Adirondack Health are mothers and fathers, living and working in the communities they serve,” said Linda McClarigan, Adirondack Health’s chief nursing officer. “We thought this would be a great way to raise awareness and encourage everyone – but particularly local youth – to embrace healthy lifestyle choices.”
Online registration is open at www.active.com through Sept. 13. Registration fees are $10 for youths ages 10-17, $25 for adults and $75 for groups. The fee is waived for children age 10 and younger. Online registration includes a t-shirt, and each adult who runs with a youth age 17 or younger will be entered into a prize drawing. The Adirondack Health Nursing 5K is a USA Track & Field 2017 sanctioned event. September is National Childhood Obesity Month, and proceeds from the race will benefit wellness programs in local schools.
