Adirondack Health is  the family of facilities and individuals who have provided sophisticated care to the Adirondack region of northern New York and beyond for the past 100 years.  They include: Adirondack Medical Center, Adirondack Medical Center/Lake Placid, Mountain Health Center (Keene), Lake Placid Health Center, Saranac Lake Health Center, Tupper Lake Health Center, Mercy Living Center (Tupper Lake), Uihlein Living Center (Lake Placid) and Adirondack Dental Service (Lake Placid).  The highly trained and compassionate individuals who work at these facilities provide a full range of medical, surgical and long-term care services.  Adirondack Health is the only full service health system in the Adirondack Park.

Located on scenic Lake Colby, AMC provides a broad range of both inpatient and outpatient services to residents and visitors to southern Franklin and northern Essex Counties. Adirondack Medical Center was formed following a 1991 merger between Placid Memorial Hospital and the General Hospital of Saranac Lake. It has two acute care hospital sites which include Emergency Departments, located in the Town of North Elba (Lake Placid) and the Town of Harrietstown (Saranac Lake).  AMC is a not-for-profit, 97-bed hospital, licensed by the New York State Department of Health.

Mountain Health Center in Keene, Lake Placid Health Center, Saranac Lake Health Center and Tupper Lake Health Center provide primary care for the entire family.

In 2007, the Uihlein Living Center in Lake Placid and Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake joined the Adirondack Health family. Both facilities currently provide long term care and short term rehabilitation care.

Emergency Services

Adirondack Health maintains emergency centers in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake that serve as central emergency services hubs for northern New York. The emergency department in Lake Placid operates from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, and the Saranac Lake emergency department is open 24 hours. Dial 911 in the event of a medical emergency.

Adirondack Medical Center at Lake Placid

Serving the residents and visitors of the greater Lake Placid region, Adirondack Health @ Lake Placid offers a full range of outpatient services including Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Imaging and Laboratory Services.

Our living centers located in two tight-knit communities, provide a warm and family-like environment where residents receive the right level of care to support a range of lifestyles and quality of daily living.

Medical Centers

As the only full service health system inside the Adirondack Park, we provide acute and critical care at Medical Centers located in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake.
