Anthony Tramontano, M.D., F.A.C.C., is the medical director of the Heart Center at Adirondack Medical Center – Saranac Lake. Prior to his appointment, he was assistant clinical professor at the University of Vermont and provided cardiac care there at the University of Vermont Medical Center and at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. He is currently on faculty at SUNY Upstate medical center and Clarkson University.

In practicing cardiology, Dr. Tramontano manages patients with a wide range of cardiac diseases. The Heart Center offers the latest innovations in cardiovascular care and clinical therapies, providing state-of-the-art testing, diagnostic procedures and treatment plans.

Because clinical cardiology is often where patients first have access to specialized care, Dr. Tramontano views himself as not only a physician but also a health coach. He truly believes that personal attention to each patient’s individual care and lifestyle is key in managing cardiac conditions long-term. This is especially important in rural areas, where access to health care and education can be minimal and inconvenient. Here at the Heart Center patients receive a holistic approach that addresses issues such as social and mental health status; diet and exercise management; and quality of life.

A native of New York City, Dr. Tramontano received his medical training at St. George’s University School of Medicine, SUNY Downstate, NYU Winthrop Hospital and New York University Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and board certified in internal medicine with subspecialty certifications in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and echocardiology. The Heart Center has an active partnership with New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.
